The arithmetic mean of all observations, or Double.NaN if no observations have been added.

Uses compensated summation for improved numerical precision with finite data. When infinite values are present, falls back to the uncompensated sum (which correctly handles Inf) since the Neumaier compensation term produces NaN from Inf - Inf arithmetic.
